About Us
Community Clothing Assistance was founded in 2006 to relieve poverty through the operation of a Clothing Bank, after the tragic death of a homeless man who froze to death on the steps of this building due to lack of warm clothing. Dr. Brian J. Scott, the landlord at that time, responded to this tragedy by establishing a charity with the help of Marie Sorenson and David Andrews. Our location is the former site of a Food Bank that provided some clothing to the poor as part of their service, but they were no longer in operation.
Our Mission is to assist in the relief of poverty among families and people in crisis through community-supported clothing assistance programs.
The organization then adopted 4 values to guide the operation DIGNITY, COMPASSION, COMMUNITY & HOPE.
We offer several different programs with a goal to improve the community well-being and to help those in need & crisis.
We operate a clothing bank through a retail storefront (The Clothing Center) that is open to the public.
