About Us
Hospice Northwest Services is a non-profit community hospice organization that began in 1986 as the Thunder Bay Community Palliative Care Volunteers. We are honoured to serve approximately 450 end-of-life clients and their families each year.
Hospice Northwest is a hospice without walls. We define hospice as a philosophy of care, rather than a place. Our specially trained palliative care volunteers provide emotional and spiritual support for clients and their families in their homes, hospitals or long-term-care facilities. We also provide group support services through our Palliative, Grief, Caregiver and Community Outreach Programs.
Hospice Northwest is a registered charity, managed by our Executive Director and staff, and governed by a dedicated volunteer Board of Directors.
We are an accredited program through Hospice Palliative Care Ontario and collaborate with other palliative care providers in Thunder Bay and District to ensure an effective, holistic approach to client care.
Hospice Northwest serves the City and District of Thunder Bay with services in the communities of Geraldton/Longlac, Terrace Bay/Schreiber, Marathon, Manitouwadge and Nipigon.
Hospice Northwest is a member of Hospice Palliative Care Ontario and the Canadian Hospice Palliative Care Association.
At Hospice Northwest, we help you make every moment matter.
