About Us

We provide legal advice and assistance to all low-income residents in the District of Thunder Bay. Our services are offered at no cost to people with low-incomes who meet the financial eligibility guidelines.

Our focus is on helping people get income maintenance benefits and maintain access to housing.

We also have locations in Marathon and Geraldton.

We also organize and present community legal education workshops and work with the community for organized, positive change.

The main areas of law that we deal with include:

Income maintenance – Ontario Works, Ontario Disability Support Program, CPP Disability, Employment Insurance, Canada Child Benefits and Tenant Rights.

Assistance may be available for other areas of poverty law, such as income tax returns, and completing applications.

Other services include Tenant Duty Counsel services for telephone hearings, Awenen Niin ID Bank, Thunder Bay Good Food Box host site, Family Duty Counsel lawyer available in our Geraldton and Marathon office, as scheduled.
