About Us
Makkinga Contractors began in 1989 when John Makkinga put everything on the line and took a huge risk mortgaging his family home to start his own business. He used those funds to purchase, which was at that time, the largest excavator in Northwestern Ontario; a 3500 Insley Excavator, and the rest is history.
We provide contracted services and heavy equipment rentals throughout Northwestern Ontario.
Our principle clients include municipalities, engineering firms, and general contractors. We offer civil contracting, excavation, sewer and water work, equipment rentals, aggregates, demolitions, rock and concrete breaking and removal, trucking and heavy equipment mobilization.
